Introduction to MCSE 70-293 Exam

The best introduction to MCSE 70-293 exam is “Expect surprises”. If you have read the official 2278 course syllabus and think you are going to take the exam on any day, get ready for a roller coaster ride. This is an exam that has no specific requirements, but partially or fully meets all of the other major objectives of the “undefined” requirements.

Whether it’s IP addressing schemes, DNS or DHCP infrastructure, certificate hierarchy, group policy, IPSec infrastructure, network load balancing, or clustering – it’s all there.

Still, think you’re ready for MCSE 70-293? Then get started!

If you’re dreading the exam right now, you have good reason to. But don’t worry, read on to learn how to master the art of passing the exam. It’s not that hard if you know how to do it.

What is tested in the MCSE 70-293 test?

The content of this exam is a bit more detailed than the 70-291 exam. Test 70-291 covered typical network infrastructure requirements for Windows Server 2003 and how to implement and manage them.

The MCSE 70-293 exam covers planning and securing a Windows Server 2003 network, as well as all of the 70-291 components and more.

This exam includes more information on enterprise networking, network infrastructure design and advanced deployment and optimization techniques, enterprise security, server roles, and server security. Finally, it focuses on server health and monitoring. No service can be secure enough without sufficient internal monitoring of its health.

The MCSE 70-293 exam also consists of presenting all of the above topics in the most complex scenarios possible. Among the scenarios here, you won’t hear many simple multiple-choice questions (MCSRs) because the MCSR questions in this exam are related to a configuration parameter or a simpler scenario than multiple-choice questions (MCMRs). At the end of the exam, after analyzing 30 different scenarios, you may be so tired that you will look forward to the refresher MCSR questions.

There are lots of explanation questions, drag-and-drop questions, hot zone questions, and multiple-choice questions (MCMR). If you’re not quite sure, it’s best to use the knockout trick. In MCMR, incorrect answers are first eliminated and a few good answers are filtered out. To select the best answer from the few correct answers, read the scenario again and combine it with the correct answers; this will help you select the best answer.

If you are not familiar with planning, designing, implementing, and securing Windows Server 2003 networks, I recommend that you wait a while and prepare well before investing time and money in this exam. It is not intended for inexperienced candidates, but for certification purposes only. It is for serious professionals who have been working in medium and large networks for at least one year.

If you don’t have the necessary knowledge, you can supplement it by extensive reading, gaining practical experience and studying. Our preparation kit will give you hands-on experience with the latest topics and help you plan your training program to be successful.

  1. server features and security

You will be asked about server roles, security plans, and configuration options. Finding the right answer requires not only knowledge but also the ability to use your skills. With extensive network experience and specific solutions for each scenario, you can analyze the problem based on these criteria and arrive at the wrong answer. Remember that a network is a combination of different technologies and that this combination is different for each network.

In the MCSE 70-293 exam, it is dangerous to rely solely on your own knowledge and experience to solve these types of problems. This is where the exam simulator comes in and gives you the information you need to start practicing analyzing scenarios correctly.

You need to know which versions of Windows Server 2003 to upgrade and which not to change, where to place servers, what role they should play in the network, when to perform certain tasks, and how and when to delegate other tasks.

You also need to know what the boundaries of the network are, where security features should be placed, which components should be responsible for the security and which ones can be thrown out into the big bad world.

Remember, you need to set baseline parameters for server and network performance, analyze them over time, and make analytics data available to improve server performance and security.

  1. Plan, install, and maintain network infrastructure.

The MCSE 70-293 course covers how many DHCP and DNS servers are needed, where they should be located, how well they integrate with Active Directory Services (ADS), how many administrative actions are required to operate them, what IP addressing system is required, what connectivity is required, and how what components are needed?

  1. plan, implement and support routing and remote access

Routers play a very important role in corporate networks. The number of routers, where they are connected, backup equipment in case of link failure, sizing of routing networks, routing best practices, how to connect remote access customers, how to authenticate, how to assign IP addresses, and how to secure network connections are all covered in this MCSE 70-293. Everything you need to know is covered in the sample questions.

  1. plan, implement, and maintain server availability

The MCSE 70-293 exam objective is to test your plan to ensure 100% server availability on your network. What technologies are used, online and offline fault tolerance, network load balancing (NLB) functionality, cluster services, cluster deployment, cluster maintenance, quorum services, cluster, and quorum troubleshooting, etc?

  1. plan and maintain network security

Network security covers Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) standards, IPSec, the infrastructure required to implement IPSec, limitations and benefits of IPSec, how to implement IPSec, the use of scripts and group policies, authentication methods used, the combination of IPSec, Kerberos and SMB signing in a mixed environment including how to maintain security, what types of clients understand IPSec and who does not, and more. There are also a number of questions on how to install IPSec on objects using Group Policy Objects.

  1. planning, installing and maintaining the security infrastructure

IPSec security is best implemented by using certificates. This section reviews the meaning of certificates, how to use a certificate server, certificate authorities, the certificate authority hierarchy for a secure network, root certificate authorities, subordinate certificate authorities, and their roles.

MCSE 70-293 exam cost

The importance of this exam lies in the fact that it contributes to the accumulation of points needed for basic certification; MCSE 2003 is becoming increasingly popular as it focuses exclusively on practical application and troubleshooting. These exams cannot be taken until all advanced concepts have been reviewed. Therefore, it has now become a prerequisite for employers to select certified employees for their organizations. This is because they add a screening process to filter out the personnel needed for the vacant positions.

Other information

There are no prerequisites for this exam, but it is recommended that you take at least one more of the 70-293 “core group” before taking the MCSE 70-291 exam.

It is a two-hour, ten-minute exam consisting of the above 35 questions. The last time I heard about this exam was in April 2004, when server roles and network infrastructure were about 15%.

The main content of the exam included PKI infrastructure, IPSec group policy implementation, clustering and core services, other ways to increase server/service availability, and security infrastructure implementation and maintenance. 60% of my exam questions were focused on scenarios that required the above concepts.

The remaining 10% of the exam dealt with routing and remote access.

To pass this exam, you must score 710 points out of a maximum of 1000 points.

I quickly skipped the questions outside of the exam, marked the exam questions, and returned to the exam questions/hotspot area after completing the round. Yes, you can mark questions in the exam that you can review later. If you plan to skip a question and return to it later, it is recommended that you double-check that the question has been marked.

The examination fee is USD 125.

How can I prepare for the MCSE 70-293 exam?

Read and fully understand the exam objectives on the Microsoft website.

Borrow or purchase books that meet the exam objectives (see the Resources section for more information on books).

See the “How To” and “Knowledge” articles on the Microsoft website.

Read as many case studies as possible (some of which are available on the Microsoft website), and relate everything you have read so far to the case studies.

If possible, make a test based on one of the case studies.

Practice breaking down and restoring the network you have created.

Use the tools as much as possible when performing step 6.

Note any error messages that you do not understand. Check the website’s knowledge base and search for the error message in question to get information about the error message’s history and documented solution.

Simulate a difficult situation, ask a friend to simulate an installation problem, and use all the knowledge you gained in steps 1-9 to solve the simulated problem.

You now know the content, patterns and objectives of the exam. Now is the time to master the course and learn how to prepare scientifically. You can do this with the help of the MCSE Exam Preparation Guide.
